Sustainability Climate Change Action Plan

girl in parkAll settings need to have a Sustainability climate change Action plan in place by the end of 2025.

Sustainability is vital for the preservation of our planet for future generations. The actions we take today and the decisions we make have a direct impact on the Earth’s future. This is particularly important in early childhood settings, as children represent our future.

Early education plays a significant role in shaping lifelong habits and attitudes toward the environment. Children are inherently connected to and have the potential to contribute positively to their world. By fostering a sense of social responsibility and respect for the environment, we can help children develop an awareness of and appreciation for the natural world, which is essential for sustainable living.

Globally every minute more than 300.000 disposable nappies are sent to landfill or end up in the environment. In many countries the average toilet training has increased from 28 months in the 1950’s to 37 months in the 2000’s.

As a sector we also use plastic gloves, aprons, shoe covers, we laminate pictures and replace plastic toys. How can we recycle more?

2.Nature Based Learning

Centre gardens or outdoor play areas for children to explore and learn about nature.

Use wood, stone, and other materials in nursery decor and for resources.
