Makaton Early Years Virtual Taster Session

Children signingMakaton Taster sessions are designed to provide general information about Makaton and how it can help develop language and communication skills.

As part of the virtual taster session your Makaton Tutor who is part of our speech and language therapy team will demonstrate 34 concepts in signs and symbols from the Makaton Core Vocabulary, plus an additional 12 concepts relevant to the early years setting. The training will take place on Zoom.

You will be able to use the signs and symbols you learn as part of the Taster session to communicate with children in your setting. Makaton Taster sessions do not teach the skills to help participants to demonstrate Makaton to other staff in the setting. You would need to go onto a Makaton Workshop (e.g. Level 1-4) to develop your skills to do this and are highly recommended to do so.
